Miranda Kerr Returns to Work in Bikinis

When Miranda Kerr said that she had miraculously avoided any stretch marks during her pregnancy to baby Flynn, she was not lying.

The Aussie model looks pristine in the latest shots for Victoria’s Secret, which marks her return to the lingerie brand since giving birth in January.

Kerr wore 22 different swimwears for the shoot, striking typically sexy poses with beads of water and a less-than-flattering belly chain in a few of the shots.

It’s a pretty impressive showing for the model, considering her excruciating 27-hour labor to a nearly ten-pound baby earlier this year. Kerr told the Sydney Morning Herald, “I didn’t have any aims to to get back in shape,” but she looked fine in a bikini on David Jones’ runway.

Now she’s back at the beach for Victoria’s Secret, presumably with Flynn at home with a sitter (or daddy Orlando Bloom).

‘Real Housewives’ husband Dies

The estranged husband of a “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member apparently killed himself in his home. The death of 47-year-old Russell Armstrong was caused by hanging and no note has been found, Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.

Russell Armstrong’s lawyer said he’s “100% convinced” Armstrong’s role in the reality show created his depression, but he does not blame the Bravo network for his death.

Armstrong was the subject of numerous celebrity gossip website stories in recent weeks that detailed allegations of abuse made against him in his pending divorce.

After Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce last month she said that she was verbally and physically abused during their nearly six-year marriage. “I felt like I was dying inside, Now, there’s some sense of peace.”

“He did not want the divorce at all, but he was willing to accept her decision,” Russell Armstrong’s lawyer Richards said, “I’m 100% convinced and based on facts that this show led to his depression on a couple different grounds. One is that the show characterized him as someone that abused his spouse. It highlighted ancient financial negatives in his past and put him in a spotlight that he wasn’t equipped to deal with.”

Armstrong’s death should serve as a warning to the dangers people face when they sign up for a reality show, he added.

The network that carries the show issued a short statement Tuesday morning:

“All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time.”

Some of the other “Housewives” took to Twitter and Facebook to express their condolences. “Shocked and deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Russell Armstrong,” Jill Zarin, who appears on the New York City version, tweeted Tuesday.

“No words can express how much my heart is breaking for my fellow housewife sister (at)taylorarmstrong and her daughter,” Gretchen Rossi, who appears on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” wrote on Facebook.

Teen bride Courtney Stodden, the 16-year-old blonde bombshell and Pamela Anderson wannabe tweeted the photo of curvaceous figure in the iconic red swimming costume yesterday with the message, ‘Just completed my session; Court does Pam! XO’s.’

But the red swimwear looks a bit small for her!

Stodden became a household name on May 20 when she married 51-year-old Green Mile star Doug Hutchison in a whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony.

Despite her mother, Krista, claiming that Courtney is a good, Christian girl, the high-cut swim suit and provocative pose suggest a much raunchier reality.

Stodden wasn’t even born when Baywatch hit the airwaves in 1990 and catapulted Pamela Anderson to instant fame as she ran down the beach alongside a bare-chested David Hasslehoff. The signature fire engine red swimming costume decorated the walls of teenage boys around the world in the 1990s when Pamela was in her prime.

Baywatch was the most watched TV show, topping 1.1 billion viewers worldwide each week, states the Guinness Book of Records.

While Stodden is no where near as famous or talented as Pammy, she is turning into a queen of self-promotion.

Stodden is a regular voice on Twitter and along the sexy photo she posts startling mature tweets for a school girl.

While most college students are hooking up on the dance floor or checking each other out by scrolling through Facebook profile pictures, a small number of students are doing something really counter-cultural — they’re getting married before they graduate.

The average national age of marriage is 28, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics, and experts say planning a wedding while still taking finals and cheering at football games is going against the norm.

Out of 20,928 undergraduates surveyed by the National Center for Education Statistics in 2008, about 18% reported they were married.

While there are various reasons why college sweethearts decide to tie the knot, one thing is for sure: Married students face more challenges than they did in the past.

It’s financially more difficult for married students today than just five years ago, said Kelly Roberts, a marriage and family therapist and clinical instructor at Oklahoma State University. She cited the decreasing number of student loans available and married students taking on more jobs to cover expenses.

“Students are not just juggling one job to try to make ends meet, but they’re juggling two,” she said.

Though all marriages are vulnerable in the first few years, experts say people who marry at age 21 or younger are more susceptible to divorce.

“The longer you can wait to get married up to approximately age 30, the greater your chances are at having a successful and stable committed relationship stay intact,” Roberts said

Paul Bowers, who started a blog called Married in College, said he didn’t miss out on anything by becoming a husband as an undergrad.

“There’s this idea that the college experience is based on watching ‘Animal House’ too many times, but we didn’t go to a lot of parties … we lived a pretty simple lifestyle,” he said.

Barneys has given Gaga an entire floor to create her workshop, as well as the famous store windows to show her display. There will also be a collection of Gaga’s Workshop gift items to which 25% of the profits will go to a charity of Gaga’s choice, which is very commendable!

Today, Barneys released a sneak peek at what to expect in the coming months. It is a cartoon image of a very festive Gaga with blue hair and a sparkly red jumpsuit! The image will be used on shopping bags and the company’s website.

Google to Buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5bn

Google has announced a deal to buy phone hardware maker Motorola Mobility for $12.5bn (£7.7bn).

In its biggest deal to date, Google said it would pay $40 per share in cash, a 63% premium to Motorola Mobility’s Friday closing price on the New York Stock Exchange.

Monday’s move, the company’s biggest foray into the hardware market, comes weeks after a failed attempt to buy patents from bankrupt Nortel.

The deal will give Google an intellectual property library in wireless telephony to wage war on Apple and Microsoft.

But the purchase, which took many in Wall Street by surprise, means Google risks alienating the hardware partners that license its free Android software.

Larry Page, Google’s chief executive, said on Monday that Android, the leading smartphone software, would remain open to all in what was seen as a move to allay investors’ fears.

“Motorola has a strong patent portfolio which will help protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies,” Page told analysts on a conference call.

John Biggs, editor-in-chief of CrunchGear, a New York blog covering gadgets and computer hardware, told Al Jazeera: “Motorola gets a shot in the arm. They have a second chance to make a difference in the mobile phone market.”

Page said that Motorola Mobility, which is based in Illinois, would be run as a separate company, licensing Android software in the same way as its rivals, which also include HTC Corp and LG Electronics.

Richard Windsor, Nomura Securities global technology specialist, said: “The danger is that other handset makers feel disenfranchised. Motorola is the weaker player. This could actually collapse the entire community.”

Motorola split into two separate companies earlier this year, with Mobility developing and manufacturing mobile phones, and Motorola Solutions covering wider technologies for governments and corporate customers.

The deal between the two would allow Google to “supercharge” its Android operating system, the joint statement said.

Google said it would continue to run Mobility as a separate business.

A joint statement said the boards of both companies had unanimously approved the deal, which should be completed by the end of this year, or early in 2012.
