Cosplay Lolita

Nowadays lolita has become a fashion culture that pretends to be more “cute” or “fair” compared with “sexy.” The fashion itself has no clear origins, but is speculated to have begun in the 1970s, when popular Japanese brands such as Casa Rosada, Milk, and Angelic Pretty started out with clothes that are very similar to Lolita.

Lolita fashion began to gain popularity in the 1990s when the bands that don clothes. Like these famous brands, Eva Mao, Lolita Lempicka, and Kenzo, all add their design Lolita style clothing and belief.

Brand and Katy Perry Deny Marriage is in Trouble

Katy Perry and Russell Brand have scotched rumours their marriage is on the rocks.

The 26-year-old Firework singer and the 36 years old comedian, who tied the knot in India last October, have been the subject of speculation they are set to split as they have been spending so much time apart.  Recent rumors suggested that the two may not make it that far and are considering a trial separation.

Not quite, Perry tweeted. “Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with it,” the 26-year-old singer wrote. “Privacy is our luxury.”

Of course, it’s just one of many rumors that the two are struggling to keep their marriage together after tying the knot last October. Earlier in the year arrived allegations that Perry was seeking a marriage counselor, and after that came gossip that she had cheated on Brand before their wedding, claims that had Perry reportedly seek legal action.

For his part, Russell Brand is backing up the wife. “You tell em Mrs Brand!” the comedian and actor tweeted. “In Britain we’re currently dismantling the scum media so I’m not tuned in to their brain-farting.”

Katy has been on her California Dreams world tour since February while Russell is currently filming Rock Of Ages with Tom Cruise in Miami.

Clothing Jokes

Well-dressed

What do you instantly know about a well-dressed man?

His wife is good at picking out clothes.

Nice Bike

Two engineering students meet on campus one day. The first engineer calls out to the other, “Hey nice bike! Where did you get it?”

“Well,” replies the other, “I was walking to class the other day when this pretty, young coed rides up on this bike. She jumps off, takes off all of her clothes, and says ‘You can have anything you want!'”

“Good choice,” says the first, “her clothes wouldn’t have fit you anyway.”

Young Woman And Her Lover

As they were walking down the street, the young woman said to her lover, “Why won’t you buy me a fur coat? I’m so cold.”

Her boyfriend sniffed, “If you knew the answer, why’d you bother asking?”

Appealing

“And if I didn’t wear a halter top and tight jeans,” asked the girl, “would you still find me appealing?”

“Let’s find out,” the man replied gamely.

Dating With Southern Girl

Dating the first southern girl he’d ever known, the Yankee was surprised when she greeted him at the door in the lowest-cut gown he’d ever seen.

“Th-that’s a lovely dress,” he stuttered, his eyes on her ample bosom. “Sho’ nough,” she replied. To which he answered, “I’ll say”.

Unique Garment

Then there was the furrier who, for a very special client, crossed a mink with a gorilla to produce a unique garment. The fur was spectacular, but, alas, the sleeves were too long.

Tight Dress

As the bus pulled up, Angie realized she was going to have a difficult time getting on. Her dress was too tight for her to step up, her hands were full of packages, and the line of people behind her did not seem to be in a charitable mood.

She realized that the best thing to do was to try to loosen her dress so, with great effort, she stretched her hand behind her and pulled the zipper down halfway. When that didn’t seem to help, she pulled it down the rest of the way.

Just then the bus pulled up and, still unable to ascend, she was both shocked and offended when a man standing behind her picked her up and put her on the bus.

Turning, she growled, “What right did you have to touch me?”

The man climbed on and said, “Well, after you pulled my fly down I kind of figured we were good friends.”

Fashion Rules Tend to Be Personal

With more fashion images, advice and information flowing into our lives than ever before from reality television shows, grocery-store scandal sheets, online authorities and now fashion magazines, it seems preposterous that we still don’t know what to wear.

“What should I wear today?” It’s a daily quandary for nearly everyone living in modern society.

Blame the sartorial confusion on the disappearance of stringent social dress codes that were universally accepted before the counterculture revolution of the 1960s. It was then, historians say, when the rules for what to wear began to disintegrate.

Despite the lack of fashion dress codes, any fashion maven will tell you expectations still exist for attending events and happenings that often specifically call for black-tie attire, country-club casual or formal dress. Church weddings, temple services, some restaurants and private clubs still maintain dress specifications.

Gina Vernaci, vice president of theatricals for Playhouse Square, is a 27-year veteran of the organization and remembers a time when she wore a dress to a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game. “The world has changed, and we have changed; we don’t have an established dress code at the theaters anymore,” Vernaci says.

She adds that the performing arts tend to attract patrons with an affinity toward more traditional and formal dress. In fact, the best seats in the house are called the “dress circle,” a nod to a time when European royalty regularly attended the theater. “It’s called the dress circle, but there’s certainly no dictate,” says Vernaci.

With such a variety of programming at PlayhouseSquare — from rock concerts to children’s shows — there are no rules for dressing the part.

Perhaps that’s the reason that a number of local restaurants with dress codes ranging from “no tank tops or shorts” to “jacket required” declined to talk publicly about their restrictions. Few, it seems, are willing to address dress codes for fear of losing potential customers.

But over at PlayhouseSquare and Severance Hall, there’s no need to be concerned about what to wear. Jeans, shorts, tank tops — all are welcome. (From Btbone.com

The Wedding Couple Depart in Good Humor

Couples with theatrical streaks are making sure that their wedding receptions have big opening numbers or dramatic closers. An arrival by helicopter fueled one couple’s big moment; other newlyweds made an impression by departing on a Jet Ski and in an ice cream truck.

A crucial element is surprise, sometimes even for the bride. In May 2010, Katie and Nathan Schwarz left their church ceremony in Lorena, Tex., on an ice cream truck that had been secretly arranged for by the bride’s father, Terry Jones. “I had a dream for Katie to have a special exit from her wedding,” Mr. Jones said. “Then I discovered my friend had an ice cream truck. It was perfect since our family saying is, ‘A home without ice cream is a home without love.’ ”

Hanne and Brian Duncan of Philadelphia, fans of bicycling, met at a race, and their second date was a 60-mile ride. So it seemed fitting for them to leave their wedding last August at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kan., on a tandem. Guests rang bicycle bells as they rode off.

Mrs. Duncan pedaled in her billowing white gown and three-inch pink-and-orange heels. “I practiced beforehand,” she said.

Even so, part of the dress dragged and was streaked with black. “I knew that if my wedding dress didn’t show evidence of a good time,” she said, “then it wasn’t a fun wedding.”

Prince William and Catherine go see ‘Bridesmaids’

Prince William and his new wife Catherine said that when they returned to the U.K. from their tour of Canada and visit to California that they wanted to live a life “under the radar” at their Welsh home.

So, what better way to lead the life of normal newlyweds than to go on a movie date?

On Saturday, the couple headed from Anglesey, where William is based as an Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot, to the nearest multiplex at Llandudno Junction, about 40 miles away, to see the American comedy “Bridesmaids.”

Other moviegoers were soon excitedly Tweeting about the sighting. “My friend from Uni has just seen Prince William and Kate Middleton in my local cinema,” a Twitter user wrote Saturday.

Cineworld confirmed the outing in a Tweet Monday, posting, “Prince William & Kate Middy saw “Bridesmaids” at Cineworld Llandudno this W’end. Wonder what they made of Kristen Wiigs ‘one eyed’ impression?”

The royal couple are avid film lovers, and loved meeting some top movie stars like Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand and Tom Hanks while in Los Angeles at a BAFTA celebration. A palace source tells PEOPLE that Kate was “as thrilled as anyone else would be to meet people who she has seen on the screen.”

William and Kate are expected to spend most of the rest of the summer in North Wales, with William working and Kate considering what patronages and causes to adopt in her new public role. They are also expected to travel to Scotland to visit Queen Elizabeth’s estate, Balmoral.

“They have the rest of their lives to be public figures and working hard on behalf of the Queen and want to keep things on a level and enjoy their marriage,” palace spokesman said last week.

Crazy New Wedding Trends

Extreme theme weddings — excess is the new rite of passage for the bride-to-be. Here, the 6 craziest wedding trends.

Bridal Diapers

Perhaps the most startling new trend of all, bridal diapers alleviate the need for a bride to awkwardly maneuver around yards of fabric and crinoline in order to relieve herself on her special day. Hey, moisture-wicking technology has come a long way in the last few years.

Retail Weddings

For couples short on cash, but all about the sack of 10, retail weddings are a growing trend. Staging nuptials in places like Taco Bell, TJ Maxx, and White Castle could save each couple a few hundred bucks. Apparently love is far from priceless.

Requiring Bridesmaids to Get Plastic Surgery

From Botox to breast implants, an increasing number of brides are insisting that bridal attendants undergo cosmetic procedures in order to look perfect for the wedding. Suddenly a teal and canary taffeta bridesmaid’s dress doesn’t sound half bad.

Doggy Wedding Attendants

K9 ring bearers are a fad we’d like to see run its course. It doesn’t matter how cute the dog is, he doesn’t belong in the wedding party.

Themed Weddings

Is this a growing trend or is it just the fact that we’re exposed to them more often on Facebook these days? Common interest and shared hobbies may have brought the bride and groom together, but a wedding isn’t the ideal place to pay tribute to a mutual love for extreme sports, Disney characters, Vulcans, or The Lord of the Rings.

Group Weddings

Group weddings are becoming more and more popular as a way to skirt the overinflated costs of a traditional wedding. No haggling with caterers, shelling out for ballroom deposits, or skimping on floral arrangements — just you, your honey, and 60 other lovesick couples you’ve never met before.

Cleaning Your Wedding Dress

Most brides spend hundred and even thousands of pounds on their wedding dresses. That means wedding dresses are not cheap and are probably the most expensive piece of clothing you will buy during your lifetime. Traditional and with the majority of wedding dresses, they are white or a very light colour like beige. Obviously in other words we can say any marks or dirt will show up more readily.

During the actual wedding, in having a great time and enjoying yourself, your dress will get some dirt on it no matter how careful you are trying to be. Panic not as you can always clean your dress. You can always try and clean the dress yourself but this is not recommended! There are professional dry cleaners who specialise in cleaning wedding dresses.

Wedding dresses are usually substantial garments and therefore cleaning them is a a task in itself. Not only that, the value of wedding dresses means that the dry cleaners do need to cover themselves with insurance in case anything goes wrong. Due to these factors, having your dress dry cleaned is an expensive business. It can cost a couple of hundred pounds and in some cases can cost a percentage of the cost of your dress. I have come across people who were charged 10% of the cost of the dress! A large proportion of this goes towards the insurance.

Once your dress is dry cleaned, then you need a proper dress storage box for it that is the right size and more importantly is pH neutral. This means that there is no acidity or alkalinity within the material of the box. This is important because any acidity or alkalinity can over time degrade the fabric of the dress or discolour it. So, when you have your dress boxed, store it somewhere at room temperature so you avoid wide temperature fluctuations.

The main piece of advice on this site is to invest in getting your dress professionally dry cleaned rather than doing it yourself. Once cleaned, store it properly in a pH neutral dress box.

Best Bridesmaid Dresses

Bridesmaids dresses come in all colours, shapes and sizes, but not all colours suit everyone and some shapes look better in specific styles of dress. This doesn’t mean having lots of different bridesmaid dresses, because there are ways of making it all work while keeping everyone happy.

Colors for bridesmaid dresses

When the colour theme for the wedding has been decided, it does not have to spell disaster for the bridesmaids. Everyone can wear a shade or tone of most colours, and the dresses do not have to be identical as long as they remain within the colour palette. Look for jewel or pastel shades which complement the bridesmaid’s natural skin and hair colour. Tie it all together with matching shoes and wedding flowers and the theme will look elegantly natural.

Red and Pink Bridesmaid Dresses

Blonde and fair skinned beauties look good in pastel pink shades. Brunettes could go for a deeper red, cerise or magenta dress. Redheads look best in very pale pink. Dark skinned women look wonderful in strong pinks and reds

Blue Bridesmaid Dresses

Blondes and brunettes can wear most shades of blue. Redheads look best in deeper shades with a hint of green. Dark skinned bridesmaids could go for the more purple blue shade but not too dark.

Lavender and Purple Bridesmaid Dresses

Almost everyone looks good in lavender or deep purple. Redheads and dark skinned bridesmaids should go for the stronger shades for purple.

Orange and Yellow Bridesmaid Dresses

Yellow is a really difficult colour for bridesmaids. If it is the chosen theme, look for very pale golden yellow or deep gold. In the same way, orange can make all skin tones look washed out or sallow. Go for the richer bronze end of the orange spectrum and soften with a cream trim or lace at the neckline. Alternatively, choose peach shades for brunette bridesmaids.

Green Bridesmaid Dresses

Redheads look gorgeous in most shades of green, especially emerald. Blondes and brunettes could go for the more aquamarine tints.

Black Bridesmaid Dresses

For evening weddings, bridesmaids can look beautiful in black. The dresses should be short, simple and with thin straps. Dark skinned bridesmaids should have a white or silver trim at the neckline to soften the effect.

Although flower-girl children look adorable in long princess dresses, short adults can be swamped by long full skirts. Short girls are best in shorter dresses without too much detail or fussy design.

Taller bridesmaids can wear short or long dresses. For very slender women, a fuller skirt or sleeve detail will create a better balance.

Choose soft flowing fabric rather than the stiffer satins or traditional taffetas.

How to Choose a Flower Girl Dress

When selecting a flower girl dress for your wedding, there are many things to consider – the age and height of the flower girl, wedding colors, dress length, dress style, and so forth. The first step is to know what styles of flower girl dresses are available.

First one should know the roles for “Flower Girls”. This role comes from medieval times as a decoy to lure evil spirits away from the Bride to avoid a curse on the marriage.  She may wear a miniaturized version of the Bride’s gown or a  edding-style gown complete with train and flowing headpiece.  She carries a bouquet. The young ladies are usually dressed to coordinate more with the Brides Maids rather than in a full, fluffy little girl’s dress.

Types of dress: Selecting the right flower girl dresses and accessories is an exciting time. Indeed it is a special day for the bride rather than the flower girl but what she wears will help her feel just that much more special and create memories for a life time. Traditionally and in many cultures yet today, the “little bride” look is desirable for flower girl.

Today we’re seeing a desire for clean lines and simple styles more in tea length than formal. Many feel that this helps focus the emphasis on the child and the meaning of the day. Sleeveless is also definitely popular in many locations. Light touches of beading are still very popular but it is not as ‘standard’ as it once was. More modern styles will include lovely dresses with an entirely different silhouette from the standard ballgown style. Selecting the Colors: White or ivory dresses are the most popular (always coordinated with the color of the Bride’s gown).  There are many alternatives, consider the following:

A white or ivory dress and add a sash in a color close to the color of the bridesmaid dresses.  It may be possible to order extra fabric from the company where you order the Bride’s Maids’ dresses to have sashes made up.  Or, you can select a similar color from a child’s dress company, matching isn’t often that important.

A white or ivory flower-petal filled dress.  Select flower petals in the color of the flowers everyone will carry or the color of the Bride’s Maids’ dresses.  It is not necessary to have an exact match. When to Shop It is very important to shop early so you have the widest possible selection.

This will allow you time to think things through and order any style you want – even with extra dress length if necessary/available and still have time to make alterations before the day she wears it.
