Lady Gaga Sued for Charity Scam

Lady Gaga has been accused of pocketing proceeds from the sales of “We Pray for Japan” wristbands and the bizarre singer is now facing legal action.

Gaga said on her website that all proceeds from the sale of the “We Pray For Japan” wristbands were going to the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

But a Michigan law firm says that’s not true. “I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity to the cause that she was trying to raise it for,” said Ari Kresch, an attorney with 1-800-LAW-FIRM, which is based in Southfield, Michigan.

That cause being Japan’s disastrous earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that caused an estimated $200-billion worth of damage.

“Everyone should come and visit this beautiful place. This is one of my most favorite places on earth,” Lady Gaga has said in the past.

But soon in a Michigan federal courtroom, the poker face showdown over a $5-million lawsuit could kick off.

“But when you use your celebrity and your power as a musician to take money from people under false pretenses, that’s just wrong,” said 1-800-LAW-FIRM attorney Alyson Oliver.

Lady Gaga charges $5 for a “We Pray for Japan” wristband, another $3.99 for shipping and handling and $0.60 for tax. The lawsuit alleges that Gaga got greedy by inflating the shipping cost and pocketing the extra and refusing to disclose how much of the $5 actually goes to the Japanese victims.

Since Lady Gaga has sold these wristbands across the country, it is alleged that she has now violated consumer protection laws in every single state.

The suit also claims Gaga never disclosed how much of the $5 bracelets was actually going to Japan relief.

Lady Gaga, long beeing the Queen of YouTube. Her videos have racked up more than a billion views on the site and fans have flocked to it in droves to post their home-brewed takes on her outfits, fashion, music and videos.

But little monsters who were looking for their daily fix of Gaga were likely disappointed when they went to Mother Monster’s YouTube account and found the following message, “This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s Copyright Policy,” and mainly resulted from a matter that she posted footage from her recent appearance on the Japanese show “SMAP x SMAP,” on the Fuji TV network.

During her ten minute set she performed a medley of songs featuring Born This Way, You & I and The Edge of Glory.

Lady Gaga has two YouTube accounts, the Vevo account where her music videos often debut, and “ladygagaofficial”, which is the one that got suspended.Footage of that performance has since been removed from other websites as well as YouTube.

Interscope, the singer’s record label and publicist, has yet to comment.

Gaga’s HBO concert special Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden on Thursday earned five Emmy Award nominations.

But later in the evening the account was back to normal, Lady Gaga’s official YouTube channel has been restored after it was blocked over a copyright dispute.

The Google Inc. owned YouTube channel declined to comment. Its policy is to remove accounts after three copyright violations.

In April, the pair announced plans for a television show together, “Q’Viva! The Chosen,” with Simon Fuller, the creator of “Idol.” The show was to feature the superstar couple as they traveled the world to find the best performers in Latin music, dance and other arts with the goal of creating a live extravaganza.
The show had no airdate, and it’s unclear if it will continue.
Lopez released her latest album, titled “Love?” this year. Just like what she once said “I admit it, i still find love the most confusing, fascinating thing in the world”. Her career, which had lulled in recent years, has surged since she became an “Idol” judge.
The marriage was the third for Lopez, 41, and the second for Anthony, 42. He was previously wed to 1993 Miss Universe winner Dayanara Torres. She was married to dancer Cris Judd and before that, to waiter Ojani Noa. Each of their previous three marriages lasted just a year.
